Stream Advantage is a new service that forms buying groups of medium to large enterprises, then leverages the combined negotiating power to gain lower priced electricity contracts.
With clients projected to enjoy savings of 15% to 25% on power costs from membership, the concept is a new paradigm in electricity buying and demonstrates Stream's independence and outside the square thinking.
Central to Stream Advantage is Streams Time-Of-Use metering service, which is provided by Stream as an integral part of the Advantage package. This proven technology typically saves clients 15% on their power costs and lowers the carbon footprint - just by applying reasonable management practices from the information provided.
How Stream Advantage Works
Individual enterprises or groups, such as franchises or associations, indicate interest to Stream.
Stream, or an independent power consultant, discusses the programme and where deemed appropriate, the enterprise provides Stream with a letter of intent to proceed.
As enterprises come on-stream, Stream organizes them in to suitable groups, then independently negotiates a contract on behalf of that group with a suitable electricity retailer.
Each enterprise has a contract with Stream for a monthly service subscription covering both the Time-Of-Use metering service and the Group Buying service.
Each enterprise has its own energy supply contract direct with the retailer and pays the retailer directly.
Likely Savings
The following is an illustration only. Figures should be checked and verified by individuals from their own calculations.
- Let's take an imaginary group of 5 medium sized businesses with an average annual power consumption of 200 MWh each.
- This equates to a total group consumption of 1,0 GWh of energy.
- Under a contract negotiated by Stream, including Time-Of-Use tariffs and line charges, the saving is projected to be around $0.04c per kWh compared to standard profile rates. This in turn translates to a saving of $40,000 annual across the for the group, and saves $8,000 per individual business.
- The Stream Advantage subscription cost is $100 per month, per enterprise, which covers the costs to negotiate the contract, Time-Of-Use meter installation, maintenance, compliance and lease, and web-based energy management access.
- So it costs $1200 to save $8,000 - a net saving of a very useful $6,800 a year, per enterprise.
- Using the energy management tools and services also provided as a part of Stream Advantage will save an additional projected 15% per year per business.
The savings are ongoing.
